Federal and State Business and Tax Forms

When starting a business, your clients may not know which federal and state forms they may need to complete. Provide them with the required forms, while helping build a consultative relationship with each new business.

Business Forms

Form SS-4: Application for Federal Identification Number*

Federal ID numbers are required for all businesses, regardless of size or organizational structure. Your clients will need their Federal ID in order to pay employment taxes for their employees.

Form I-9: Employment Eligibility Verification*

Forms I-9 for all employees should be maintained in one, centralized file apart from the general personnel file folder in the event of an audit to maintain confidentiality.

Form W-4: Employee's Withholding Allowance Certificate*

Your clients' employees must submit a signed W-4 to indicate their federal income tax withholding allowances. If a W-4 is not submitted, your clients must withhold taxes at the highest possible rate.
